will be held at the The Sefton Hotel, Douglas, Isle Of Man,
7th April to 9th April, 2019
The Congress of the British Association of Numismatic Societies in 2019 will take place on the Isle of Man. It will run over the weekend of Friday 5th April to Sunday 7th April and, as someone who has attended BANS events in the past, I very much hope you will be able to join us. The Congress will be held at the Sefton Hotel, a restored Victorian hotel which is located on the seafront in the centre of Douglas.
An excellent programme of lectures will be arranged for the three days, some specific to the Isle of Man, including a talk from Dr Kristin Bornholdt Collins, a specialist in Hiberno Manx Viking coinage. There will also, as usual, be lectures covering a range of subjects. We are intending to spend a large part of Saturday morning at the Manx Museum in Douglas for lectures, with a coach trip to Castletown, the old capital of the island, on the Sunday. The full cost of the weekend, which will include en suite accommodation, all meals and of course the lectures, will be £265 for a single room, with a double being £390. Whether you are planning to attend alone or as a couple we would like to request a deposit of £50 which can be sent as a cheque, alongside your provisional booking form, to my colleague Hannah Merry. Her email address is email@example.com.
Direct flights are available from Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, London City, Edinburgh, Belfast and Dublin.. Crossing by ferry is also possible from Liverpool and Heysham. If you would like to arrive earlier or stay for extra days, we would ask that you book this direct with the hotel.
