will be hosted by the Bexley Coin Club at the The King Charles
Hotel, Gillingham, Kent,
13th April to 15th April, 2018
The 2018 Spring Congress will be held at the family-run and owned 3 Star King Charles hotel at Gillingham, Kent. All facilities are en-suite. The Congress has been booked for the weekend 13 to 15th April 2018, and is being hosted by the Bexley Coin Club, which will be celebrating its 50th (Golden) Anniversary. A full programme of talks is being planned, and for the Saturday afternoon trip we are organising a short bus/coach trip into the centre of Rochester, the historic capital of Kent. For the ambulant, there will be Guided Walking Tours, or else you will be free to visit the Cathedral with its newly refurbished crypt, the castle, or the Guildhall and Huguenot Museums, or just indulge in retail therapy along Rochester’s lengthy pedestrianised High Street noted for its many individual shops.
The journey to the hotel, which has a large free car park, is straightforward. By road the A2/M2 junction morphs into the northern Strood bypass, then through the toll-free Medway tunnel followed by a short run to the hotel, in front of the Royal Engineers Museum. By train, Southeastern Services run from Charing Cross and Victoria, and the High Speed Javelin Service runs from St. Pancras, all to Gillingham BR Station. The hotel is a ten minute walk due west along the High Street. This will be the third BANS Congress that the Bexley CC has organised, previously held at Greenwich and then at Canterbury, which was jointly organised with the Kent NS. Other Congresses in Kent were held at Maidstone and Margate (Thanet), thus Medway Maritime, the historic capital of Kent, now completes the strategic geography.
Attendance fees, accommodation rates, etc., will be uploaded when available. Further information on this event can be obtained from the joint organisers, Chris Comber and Tony Gilbert, on tel: 0208 303 0510.
